1) Gonna be a bad day when the boss emails all the paralegals saying "I think this is Lost Paralegal's case, did we blow a deadline?"
a) not my case
b) I took over because the one whose it was had other shit to do today
and proceed to email boss with what I think he wants. Only to figure out he has no idea what he wants. Or how he wants it. or if there is a deadline in the coming days. Or anything. And get several all-caps emails from him.
Until New Attorney calmly emails (or calls, I'm not sure which) opposing counsel and asks for an extension.
The extension is for two months away.
I breathe a sigh of relief, tell New Attorney he's frikking awesome, and retreat back to my desk to continue my non-billable.
2)Gonna be a bad day when Cool Attorney strolls in maybe-almost-not quite-as-formal-as Friday casual, and proceeds to have a 40-minute meeting with me discussing absolutely nothing (which was fine, because I had nothing to do), during which at least a third of is him talking about how he's hit a saturation point with boss's shit and is actually thinking about leaving. (the rest was us goofing off doing stupid research neither of us is particularly qualified to do).
To be fair, we were waiting for a client.
Sort of. Maybe forty minutes early waiting.
