A little bit of communication goes a long looooooong way!
« on: July 28, 2011, 11:37:46 AM »

Here is my morning dialogue for your enjoyment:

Me: (7:40AM) Your documents for your depo are in my office. Please review them and let me know if you want me to add or subtract anything.
Attorney: OK.

Me: (8:00AM) Your 8AM appointment canceled and the 8:30 will be ready soon. Don't forget to review the depo docs in my office. You need to leave by 9:30.
Attorney: OK.

Attorney (9:40AM) Where's my pile?
Me: Here you go.
Attorney: Only one copy?
Me: Yes. Co-counsel has his exhibits. These are for you only so you have them to review.
Attorney: Well, I would need two copies if I was taking the depo.
Me: Co-counsel is taking the deposition and has his own exhibits. So, I only made one copy for you.
Attorney: Make me another copy and drive it down to the depo place when it is done.
Me: OK.

10:00AM- copies made on my way

Attorney: (10:03AM Via text) Forget the copies. Co-counsel is here. I need this *** document.
Me: Do you want me to bring it to you? Fax it? Email it?

Me: (10:19AM Via text) Do you want me to just come?

Me: (10:37AM Via text) I'm going to just come. Do you need anything else?

Drop docs at 11:00AM

Attorney: (11:01AM Via text) Why did you interrupt my depo? What were you thinking? Don't EVER do that again.
Me: Don't worry. I won't.

FML. Sheesh!

OMG!  They must teach this crap in law school - it's pretty universal...  :(

Save the texts as evidence for your murder trial.

Ha!  Don't.  We have our fair share.  We just promote them to executive level.

Oh, yes, the Dilbert Principle.  Everyone rises to the level where their incompetence can do the least amount of damage.

I would believe that except these people are making the decisions for our company.  The direction of the company.  Acquisitions. New ventures.  Scary.

"Least" damage.  That is a far cry from "no" damage.

Being in the law this long, shouldn't you have learned to pay close attention to such things?   :)
