Client: “Why do you lock people out of your bathrooms?”

Me: “I’m sorry, sir. We have a key here. I’m happy to give it to you. The building keeps the restrooms locked so that people can’t walk in off the street and use them.”

Client: “Well, what good does that do me now? I thought I wasn’t allowed in, so I had to pee in the parking lot.”

Me: “I’m sorry, you peed in the parking lot?”

Client: “You people left me no choice!”

Thank God I didn’t shake his hand before knowing this….

I worked in a building that locked the bathrooms doors. It was actually done to keep the employees who worked in the building safe from predators. Before they were locked vagrants would sometimes come in off the streets and lurk in the bathrooms, peeping on women…and one time…something far worse happened. As difficult as it is to ask for a key when you really gotta go, I understand the need for protection.

Oh honey, me too. We keep ours locked for the same reasons.
